I feel so honored to discuss The Glare on a Comic-Con @ Home panel called “Your Secret Weapon: How Friendship Saves the Day” with a group of amazing authors: Naomi Novik, Victoria Ying, Ari North, Aliza Layne, Christina Soontornvat, and Max Brallier, with Maryelizabeth Yturralde from Mysterious Galaxy books leading our conversation! Friday, July 24, 2-3 p.m. More info here, and you can buy all the books discussed on the panel from Mysterious Galaxy here.
I love books with powerful friendship themes, especially when the friendships are complicated, twisty, and even twisted. That’s certainly the case in The Glare, where a lonely girl is desperate to make friends, only to discover she’s infected her new friends with something deadly … not a biological pathogen, but an online game that won’t let them go.
That brings me to some other news. My essay about the making of The Glare is up on the New York Times Book Review! You can read it here, and more on this soon.
